You need to disable SIP, but if you know what you are doing on your mac and don't open/download shady stuff, it should be fine. I used PathFinder until version 7 when it got quite buggy (and then went subscription). Two things recently installed that are mind blowing: Lasso App and Forklift App. One of the annoying things for me when I first switched was the way the macOS Finder worked, especially when it comes to merging files/folders from one location to another existing location. I switched from Windows to Mac, back in 2011, and haven't looked back since! Windows Vista was the absolute worst and Windows 7 wasn't much better.
